Not much idea but I would love to pursue something related to Topic Modeling. I had just been introduced to the topic during my internship at Yahoo! Introduction
I am in incoming student into the new CS Masters program. Broadly, I am interested in Machine Learning and have quite recently developed a liking for Social Media Analysis due to a course in Web Mining and Information Retrieval I pursued under the guidance of Prof. Soumen Chakrabarti at IIT Bombay.
Why this course
I wish to understand in more depth how Social Media work. Natural Language parsing seems quite a difficult problem for machines to solve and I wish to get a knowledge of some existing basic methods / algorithms to do so. I've also taken up 05-820 Social Web, a course offered by HCI and am hoping that both of them complement each other well to further my understanding of the subject.
Project
Not much idea but I would love to pursue something related to Topic Modeling. I had just been introduced to the topic during my internship at Yahoo! Research ended and I did not get time after that to explore more. Would love to do that.
