Who am I and why am I here?
Tony is a research programmer at the Computer Science Department. Since 2009, he has been working for Luis von Ahn in an awesome project called Duolingo. This might be his last year at the LTI Masters program. He is taking SPLODD to learn about the latest NLP methods and techniques that can help him in his research: teaching languages online and improving machine translation.
Superpowers
- Before coming to CMU, Tony worked as a software engineer for almost 10 years developing real-world applications.
- His native language is Spanish and he finds natural language grammars as fun as the programming language ones. He thinks he might know some Spanish tricks that haven't been tried out yet for some Spanish language processing tasks.
Random notes
- I'm pretty sure this is the first CMU class ever to be attended by two Guatemalans.
