This is review for Borthwick_1998_exploiting_diverse_knowledge_sources_via_maximum_entropy_in_named_entity_recognition by user:ksuravar.

My previous review is at Exploiting_diverse_knowledge_sources_via_maximum_entropy_in_named_entity_recognition,_by_A._Borthwick,_J._Sterling,_E._Agichtein,_R._Grishman._In_Proceedings_of_the_sixth_workshop_on_very_large_corpora,_1998.

Summary: The paper describes applying Maximum entropy theory to Named Entity recognition using various sources of information. The paper describes the problem of recognizing and categorizing the NE.

I liked the conclusion where they said MENE can be used as the final step to increase the results for any hand coded system lying on the top of it.
