This is a review of the paper Bunescu_2006_subsequence_kernels_for_relation_extraction by user:Suranah.

The paper presents a subsequence kernel for extracting semantic relations. They use three types of subsequence kernels, with model fore-between, between and between-after patterns. They have evaluated their approach on AImed and ACE dataset, and report some improvements in accuracy for both the extraction tasks.

I believed that the medical domain would be rather limited, and would have preferred some analysis on why the manual system performed slightly worse; was it because of the long distance relationships which the manual rules could not handle?
