Method

Wikipedia defines collocation detection as

  • Within the area of corpus linguistics, collocation is defined as a sequence of words or terms which co-occur more often than would be expected by chance.

This often means the detection of interesting multiword expressions with non-compositional semantic content. For example: names, turns of phrase, etc.
