Summary

Tensor are essentially multi-dimensional matrices. Each dimension of a tensor is also called a mode; that being said, a one-mode tensor is a vector, a two-mode tensor is a matrix and a three-mode tensor can be viewed as a three dimensional cube. Many different types of data can be formulated as tensors, and in fact, tensor have been and are still being applied in a huge, diverse variety of fields, ranging from Data Mining to Chemometrics and Signal Processing to Psychology.
